Πέντε Αεροδρόμια άγνωστα στο ευρύ κοινό, καθένα με τη δική του στρατηγική αξία, διαδραμάτισαν σημαντικό ρόλο στην εξέλιξη του πολέμου και τη διαμόρφωση του τελικού αποτελέσματος.

Πολλές και άγνωστες ιστορίες συνδέονται με αυτά τα αεροδρόμια.

Ιστορίες τόλμης και ανδρείας που καταγράφηκαν ως θρύλοι στη συλλογική μνήμη των κατοίκων των περιοχών που φιλοξένησαν τις αεροπορικές βάσεις.

Δεν είναι τυχαίο που βετεράνοι αεροπόροι με εμπειρία «χτισμένη» στο ελληνικό θέατρο επιχειρήσεων, σημαντικά σοφότεροι τόσο σε θέματα επιχειρήσεων όσο και θέματα που άπτονται της ίδιας της φυσιολογίας της πτήσης, συνέβαλαν αποφασιστικά μετά τον πόλεμο στην περαιτέρω διερεύνηση των ορίων του ανθρώπου στον αέρα.

Αναγνωρίσεις και φωτογραφίσεις, βομβαρδισμοί, αερομαχίες, ανθυποβρυχιακός πόλεμος ήταν μερικοί μόνο από τους ρόλους που επωμίστηκαν οι αεροπορικές δυνάμεις των αντιμαχόμενων συνασπισμών που επιχείρησαν στην ελληνική επικράτεια.

Παράτολμοι άντρες, ξένοι - φερμένοι από τα πέρατα του κόσμου, αλλά και έλληνες, νίκησαν το φόβο για το άγνωστο, αψήφησαν το θάνατο, πέταξαν με πρωτόγονες πτητικές μηχανές από πανί και ξύλο, πολέμησαν στους ουρανούς του Αιγαίου και της Μακεδονίας, έγιναν θρύλοι. Κάποιοι δε γύρισαν ποτέ πίσω στις πατρίδες τους.

Για πρώτη φορά έρχονται στο φως μοναδικά τεκμήρια: επίσημα στρατιωτικά και διπλωματικά αρχεία, βιβλία πτήσεων, ημερολόγια, επιστολές και σπάνιες φωτογραφίες...

Many different and unknown stories became chained with those airfields.

Tales of boldness and courage were marked as legends among the collective memory of the people that lived by the airstrips.

It is no coincidence that veterans that became adept in flying over the Greek skies and the theater of operations over the Aegean, were later called to back up the efforts of science to reach and expand the limits of technology and human physiology even further.

Aerial reconnaissance and observation, bombardment, "dogfighting" and anti-naval warfare were few of the different roles that the competing aviators had to manage over the Greek territory.

Fearless men, strangers - taken from the ends of the world, but also Greeks. Defeated the fear of the unknown, with defiance for death, they flew with primitive flying machines made of cloth and wood. They fought over the skies of Macedonia & Aegean. Some of them, never returned home.

For the first time, unique facts come to spotlight: official military documents, diplomatic correspondence, logbooks and rare photos.
