Excellent discussion of "flesh" in the last third of the lecture. Truth every Christian needs to know, but unfortunately doesn't. The wrong understanding of "flesh" predominates, is popular.

Does anyone know where to buy the Russell Notes he refers to in the lectures? Not finding it when I Google it.

You mean you can just translate the bible into as many languages as you wish based on your whims without the most original text as the standard reference?

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Galatians 5:17

I wonder what Ben Shin's comments are on CSB and the 2020 Update of the NASB.

Is Biola a liberal college or is it Biblical? Do they affirm that the Bible is infallible word of God?

To me you are giving examples from English words to give meaning from the Greek. To different languages. The word CHURCH which catholics used in the king James because catholics or popes or priests want control over the people as a government but Martin Luther changed that and showed we are the called out one as there is know one better than others. I believe the best word is congregation not church.

This man has a great sense of instruction and patience and pleasant to watch listen and contemplate! I presently for weeks have been thinking about the supposed to be original Devine inspired writings! Here is what no one speaks about written works are forbidden! Another words the oral and the original inspired word of God was all oral and forbidden to be wrote down so the originals never were lost because there was nothing of that kind in the inspired words of God! Why is this not ever considered or contemplated! If this is correct and it is true that oral Devine teachings are forbidden then all writings all bibles are a farce or at best just a guess! You might also consider men of ancient BC Philosophy made many comparisons or parallel Bible thinking abstractions so isn’t it possible that the Bible is made up of a conglomerate or pool of Ancient Greek Hebrew Aramaic even Far East and Chinese philosophies! Just read the writings on the Lao-Tzu, Buddha, Epicurus, Socrates Plato Aristotle Zoroastrian really the list might be endless there’s so many and these philosophers taught some things exactly like what is taught in the man made Canon Hebrew Greek and Aramaic Bibles! These writings were put together by man and canonized all from a pool of Apocrypha writings so then if this is true and it seems from my personal research investigative studies and personal phenomenon this is utterly and completely accurate! Why isn’t this a topic for discussion?

So here's my question, why are word studies considered artificial?

Belonging to christ isnt an attribute applied only to jews so the flesh spoken of with the affections and lusts have to deal with and individuals nature and not just law doers or promoters...not sinful but human nature that has contrary inclinations to that of God's nature(spirit) ... Another passage Paul says to die daily or to mortify the deeds of the body, its evidently an individuals nature with their affections and lusts.

Good foundational principles though

This does seem rather silly and infantilizing. It is also erroneous in likening the composite word ekklesia (which does give it its meaning) to the words adamant and content, which are not composites of that kind. Examination of the etymology of pineapple and understand would reveal the logic in these composite words, giving an idea of their original meaning. I may be missing out on some later gems of insight, but I cannot watch beyond these first off-putting 18 minutes.
