Great video and thank you, i am using audacity as I have windows and I found that because maybe the stereo sample is out of phase at certain points its not possible to find the zero cross point on both stereo channels so in this case is it best to do a fade to edges within serum? thanks John

You can make custom aproximate waves with ZynAddSubFx ADsynth only from sinewaves which are even more smoother. I like the functions where you can create waves on the fly and using the internal serum editor to rebuild them.

How did you get the effects chain on the left side of the setuper?

Learnt a lot from this video regarding Serum and Sampling. One question, do you know if Steinbergs WaveLab LE can do the same things as DSP Quattro? Snapping to the 0 point seems really handy but I have Pro Tools too which I guess I can use. Thanks a lot :)

Awesome video! I feel like it should be possible to pick out those 13 snapshots with Serum as a tool. I find it hard to belive that Steve Duda did not think of that.. are you sure there is no option where it looks for the most dramatic changes in the wavetable and then picks them out automatecly without the need to fiddle around in a 3rd party sampler?

My god I need to get FM8, those are some really cool waveforms.

Thanks for the tutorial, this was extremely helpful.

Right on. By the way, I know you mention DSP Quattro 4 as audio editor but I'd like to suggest, as an alternative, Soundforge Studio by Magix (used to be owned by Sony). It's half the price and does far more useful things, like audio repair and spectral analysis. It also comes bundled with Izotope Ozone Elements and has VST2 and VST3 support, video support, and the ability to do remuxing (not remixing...you read right). It too has the "snap to" zero crossings and let's you select by samples, frames (video), and time. It's on sale now for $45 but even when it's not on sale, it's much more affordable and does far more useful and practical things for people working with audio and video too.

You think this would be a good method for sampling and creating serum versions of classic synth sounds?

What synth is on your right? The one with the green lights?

Great tutorial! Why did you use 13 snapshots? Does it have to be 13?
