I’m not Italian, but I still like to very openly hug and give my parents kisses. I love them. They’re not around super often right now so when I get to be physically close to them, I feel safe and overwhelmingly happy. I don’t think that’s strange at all :)

Man I don't have a drop of Italian in my system, but it took me a LONG time to realize that most ppl don't express familial love so physically. Worst part is it's not everyone in my family ITS JUST ME. Where did it come from man

My mom and I give each other a quick peck hello and goodbye. Yes, on the lips. It reminds me of when I was a little kid. I don't think it's weird, but other people say it is. I don't plan on telling my mother, a senior citizen, that we have to stop our normal non-creepy greeting because other people want to dictate what is or isn't weird. I think it's weird that people feel the need to comment on it. Idk 🤷‍♀️

Bro this reminds me so much of americas outrage about David Beckham kissing his kid. I was just sat there like “so do y’all just not love your kids then? 🤔”

I just love his 'I just told a joke and am now starring into the nothingness of my existence with absolutely no emotion and just the fact of the human's inevitable meaninglessness on my mind until you're done laughing'-face. Especially when he strokes his face.

Down here in Argentina that culture has become the norm.

I met a guy recently who just moved from Italy and he gave me a deep hug when we parted, even though we had just met. I was so surprised lol

My family is Caribbean, it's weird not to kiss and hug my parents. In some contexts, it's rude not to.

I can now confidently say that I am NOT Italian.

That's what we do in Uruguay, we greet everyone with a kiss on the cheek, even if we just met them.
And yeah, social distancing was hard and it was weird saying hi while bumping our elbows instead of kissing.

As an Asian, physical touch doesn't exist. My family doesn't express love with words either.

You know what, we're just a blank slate

Brazilians are the same, we like to hug and kiss to say hello or goodbye, not only family but friends and people we just met as well

My Italian father's favorite thing is to kiss EVERYONE hello/goodbye on the forehead. It's just standard with him lmao

Same for hispanic people, even people in the family I don’t know. People think It’s weird and I think they’re weird for thinking that
