In this episode of Detroit, Michigan, we will drive by some abandoned car factories that made automobile history, such as the abandoned Packard Automobile Plant and the Ford Motor Company's abandoned Highland Park factory. Where the Model T revolutionized the assembly line. We will also visit the abandoned Belle Isle Zoo and some of our favorite renovated structures. NOTE a video about abandoned buildings doesn't mean you're going inside. These buildings are private property and we do not trespass. #detroit #motorcity #automobile #cars

So sad to see this historical building(s) left to decay. So worth doing something with. I remember going through the outskirts of Detroit on the train and seeing all the empty and neglected buildings there. Pretty sad. It's almost post apocalyptic. I can understand them needing to take these buildings down for safety sake, but it's still such a shame.
That is so cool to see the old theatre being repurposed and still retaining the ceiling! And the hotel getting a new life was wonderful! Such a grand building!

This video was such an eye-opener! It's fascinating to see the mix of abandoned and renovated places in Detroit. The history behind the Highland Park plant and the Belle Isle Zoo is both sad and intriguing. I really appreciate how you capture the essence of the city's past and present. Looking forward to your next adventure! 👍

One of the better historical landmarks for sure. Instead of a pile of rocks

I have heard that a lot there was abandoned, it made me sad to see how all the beautiful buildings are falling down. I wish it could be restored. Thank you for sharing!! Sorry about the zoo, I love animals 17:34

I really hope they can regenerate Detroit 😊😊

So depressing, I'd rather see it all torn down and restored to natural Habitat then to see a ghost town reminder of our past glory.😢

I actually watch a lot of videos of abandoned places on YouTube. So this was fascinating to me. It is always interesting to see nature reclaim land like it is doing at the abandoned zoo. But it is also sad to see places that used to be important but are now just rotting away into ruins. Thanks for sharing this!

Very interesting and sad it breaks my heart to see the wheels of industry come to a halt, and see neighborhoods crumbling all around, sadly I don’t believe our country will ever get back to those days where America set the standard.

Very good tour of Detroit. Too bad so many buildings are in bad shape too.

It really is sad to see the abandonment and dereliction of these historic places. While we do see some dereliction in the UK most sites are redeveloped pretty quickly as space is at a premium here. The fact that there is so much more space in the USA removes the imperative to make full use of land. It is easier and cheaper to develop new available space than to redevelop. Interesting to see all of this especially the abandoned Zoo. Some of those enclosures looked quite shocking. Zoos today make such a good job of caring for the animals. The hotel does show what can be achieved. Best wishes from the UK.

Designed by renowned architect Albert Khan...3.5 million square foot of building. First building in the USA to use reinforced concrete pillars, in order to save space. A Packard was 4 times more expensive than a Cadilllac at the time
