Spearfishing Gear Reviews - Episode 1 - January 2013

This is my first episode of Spearfishing Gear Reviews. I'm no Spielberg, but hopefully some will appreciate my honest assessments of the gear. My reason for doing these reviews is that Spearfishing is not very popular in Oregon, and trying to get information on how things perform, durability, etc is very hard to come by.

Future reviews include "green screen" formatting, so you don't have to stare at my dining room :). And, products in the review queue: Aimrite ProComp spearguns, Omer Millennium Fins, Spearmaster Reels, BanksBoard, Sporasub Mystic Mask, Pyle Dive Watch, and much, much more. I hope to get out one video per month.

Thanks for watching and offering your questions/comments.

Sweet! Been meaning to get out there. All this inland river spearing is making me eager to get out to the coast. Just doesn't cut it if you know what I mean ;)

Thanks!! I'm currently working on backing up my MAC so I can get more videos edited and uploaded. Its so full right now, I can't even get my editor open to import and edit new footage (which I have about 150hrs of) :) It may be a few weeks yet, but I have lots to get up here.

Inflate the bladder about 50%, leaving the float cover's zipper and Velcro open. Put your hand inside the float and pull the bladder from the grommet side towards the middle of the float - while inserting the pole in the top grommet - passing straight through the float and go through the grommet on the underside. I let the flagpole stick out about .5" through the bottom. Let go of the bladder while the pole is in place and then inflate fully, and close up. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching

Hi,

Just starting out, I think most are in the :20-:25 second range at 15'-20' feet. The more you dive, the more confident you become in sustaining longer bottom times, and at greater depths. That said, I highly recommend studying proper breathing techniques and Shallow Water Blackouts - there are safe ways to freedive and unsafe ways.

also saw a mod of this float where a guy cut up and placed some kid spagetti floats in the compartment for a solid float

Nice review. I bought this, but do you know how do I attach the flag on it?

Grat review! Thank you. Do you have anything on the "zodiac style" spearfishing floats? (such as beuchat guardian, or seacsub seamate). I'm looking forward to get one of those for those shore dives where you need to travel a long distance, but I'm nof fully convinced. Thank you.
