Thanks again Aaron, last time I needed a hinge, I just pick up one from 3D Warehouse, and spent 45 minutes trying to modified it. Now I can draw one in 5 minutes...

I really love seeing everything fall into place when watching this video and using native tools. I am fascinated with parametric architecture and forms. Can you show more of this type of modelling involving native tools. The harley petrol tank was a classic. I guess what I am looking for are models that do not have any straight lines. Thanks for the videos.

Never thought of extruding in that direction, great tip. The gap is a little large but that's a minor detail, easily adjusted. AND every "common hinge" in my house is shaped exactly like this.

Excellent. It's amazing how simple it actually is but I never would have thought of building it this way. Keep up the great videos!

Brilliant. I have made a hinge before but it took about an hour and lacked the elegance of this one. Thank you Aaron.

Thank you for your videos. I'm a woodworker that uses SketchUp for designing furniture for my customers. I like to show as much joinery as I can to give them a really good sense of the finished piece. One thing I wish I was better at drawing is dovetails. I can do it, but it takes so long. I'm probably doing the LONG way. When I watch your videos, I feel like there has to be a faster more efficient way to do it. Maybe using the divide command, and maybe in combination with the solid tools subtract. In fact, there's many times where I'm trying to intersect with the model so that I can infer geometry outlines onto other surfaces that I can push pull dados, grooves, etc. Anyway, just thought maybe I'd drop my thoughts and something I'd like to see. My SketchUp skills are getting better from watching your videos.

Great video. I am a relatively new Pro user, and have had a hard time finding little tricks. using arrows to use an axis, awesome. Using CTRL to make a copy while rotating, great! Subscribed.

That's really slick. Now if I can do that, I'm sure I'll be more proficient with Sketchup. Thanks!

at 3:06 mark you check to see if it was still a solid. That reminded me, many times when creating models I create a solid and try to use solid tools but it wont work saying it isnt a solid. Very confusing when things wont work and you have no idea why or how to correct them. I end up spending the rest of the day searching for an answer and not getting anything done.
