This is so satisfying to see how easy it is, no unnecessary crap in the way.

No unnecessary gimmick. Just a simple well-engineered and a very light phone

Great guide, very helpful to see all the steps involved. I tore down my phone to replace the entire frame with screen and the battery. However when I removed the plastic cover like at 0:40 there is a tiny piece of adhesive on the back which when removing the cover ripped the metal heatspreader off the pcb. To put it back on I used some tiny dabs of thermal glue on the chips and precisely aligned it back how it was. Phone works just fine.

2:33 the notification light is that damn small and yet hardly any phones use it? Dumb.
Lets make these phones big as a brick and keep removing things. Great concept.

Thanks for this! Looks like repairability is good in this phone! Can you remove the screen without dissasembling the whole phone?

I have a functioning 5ii with a broken headphone jack; my first (mobile) disassemly project is to replace it.
Thanks!

Xperia 5 seems easy to replace battery unlike samsung and lg they put a super glue that's hard to replace it. Nice video.

the top portion looks simple and ez, but the bottom part is quite the opposite 😆

How come Jerry Rig hasn't touched Sony phones in a few years. It's as if he doesn't even know they exist. This s&t ain't right lol.

The headphone jack does seem to use quite a bit of real estate as many of those phone manufacturers are claiming. I'm not surprised that other manufacturers are removing it, especially when many of the newer smartphone chips are demanding more real estate for bigger chips and better cooling. However, I would gladly sacrifice one or two of those cameras for a headphone jack. But then, who would buy a flagship smartphone with flagship prices that doesn't have one of those top end cameras. Ah well... I hope the headphone jack stays in future iterations of this phone, it's the main reason I bought it.

Thx for the vdo. I cracked the glass screen of the phone and need replacement. Does the lcd stick to the glass or incan just buy the glass replacement? Thank you in advance

Was it well built? I was hoping for a review with the built compact quality :)

If I just wanted to replace the battery, is it absolutely required to remove all the other boards?
