It's scary enough to be in a tornado, but being in a tornado on a bridge has got to be magnified a thousand fold.

My moms best friend at work was dropped off by her husband and he had their daughter with him. On the way home they got stuck in traffic when a tornado hit. They were both killed! I was the same age as the daughter (2nd or 3rd grade). They waked & buried her in her communion dress as we were supposed to be making our first Holy Communion the week following the tornado. Her dress was identical to mine. I'm 64 and still remember it! 🌪 The devastation the tornado caused was unbelievable. To this day I am very alert to weather warnings & watches!

Always stay low. In school we were taught if we could not find a safe place to get in a ditch

Feel ya, brother. I got trapped on westbound I-70 about 2 miles west of the KS state line in Kansas City with a large tornado coming straight at us about 5 miles off. Couldn't drive off in any direction, couldn't turn around and not about to head toward it. It missed us by a mile or so but never felt so helpless.

I was in Oklahoma City when the sirens went crazy, we jumped on I-40 and made it to Del City when we by the grace of God were able to exit and hide under the overpass. It was May, 1999 and the devastation was frightening and plentiful. We were in vacation and man I am never returning. 🙏

Growing up in Kansas, we learn that the most dangerous place to be during a tornado is a vehicle- the air can get underneath and lift more easily. They recommend gettimg out of the vehicle and lying flat on the ground - an even scarier thought!! Glad you're safe!

Thank God you made it through the storm. I know what it feels like my car was picked up and turned around, and I was facing the other direction from what I was driving.

If you're ever in a situation like this, it's best to park as close as you can to each other.
