At first I was sad. Old Trafford has been part of my life for 35 years. But then I thought to myself, nothing can take away the memories I have for that place and this team. Growth is inevitable and the fact it will bring in more revenue for the team given it is 20k more seats and more revenue for the area around it.

No matter the history... OT is a shit hole and a relic. We are being left behind on every metric you can think of apart from attendances. I want to see the best stadium on the planet, bar none. If 2 billion is going to be spaffed on this, that should be the absolute number one ambition.

These types of projects do not exclude the history and strong legacy of a club like United. I’ve been part of such projects. It’s entirely expected that key elements of the original stadium will make its way into the new one. And it will always be considered Old Trafford even if they engage a sponsorship deal, which could bring huge money. I for one find this exciting!

Interesting that Gary Neville has voiced the same sentiment as you regarding not making it look like a space ship but incorporating a look and feel that works with our unique history and location. I think including him within the design team was a great move by Ratcliffe.

It’s the absolute best solution for me by a mile… retain OT and reduce it in size make it the ground for our U23’s, women and youth! We’ll still fill it every match day make the games before the first team it’ll be amazing! Imagine a state of the art 100k stadium unlike any of the metal and glass boxes every other club has retain the red brick and build it with a nod to the industrial heritage of Manchester

100, 000 seater stadium (with lots of safe standing I hope behind both goals) a retractable roof and pitch. Design elements of the current stadium into the new design. The facade, the lower bowl should resemble Old Trafford.

It would be a money spinner for the long run.

Downsize the existing stadium for the women and youth. Create facilities from hotels, shops and restaurants, a sports university campus, offices for United (& Ineos), apartments ….
