The Outsiders - Auditions

It’s the 38th anniversary of the Francis Ford Coppola movie The Outsiders today (25/03), the movie about two rival gangs had a unique and gruelling audition stage. Here are some of the auditions for both those actors that did win roles and those who didn’t including C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane, Helen Slater, Kate Capshaw, Adam Baldwin and Anthony Michael Hall.

Ralph Macchio is older than most of the rest of the cast of teen characters, but looks younger than everyone.
