South Korea's longest cable car has begun operation in the southeastern city of Sacheon.

The cable car crossing the indigo-colored South Sea presents magnificent views of Samcheonpo Bridge as well as Hallyeosudo Waterway and islets.

Besides those views, a number of bamboo weirs to fish anchovies, which are spread out beneath the cable car, also catch the eye of tourists.

The 2.43 kilometer-long cable car, the longest in the country, connecting Choyang Island and Gaksan Mountain in Sacheon of South Gyeongsang Province.

Passengers can have the great fun of riding the cable car moving high above the land and ocean at the same time.

The 45 cars operating under the Sacheon aerial lift system are known to be able to withstand winds of up to 22 meters per second, and their ride takes 20 to 25 minutes.

The system has attracted as many as 250,000 passengers only in one and a half months after its launch in April.

The crystal cabin cable car with a transparent floor provides tourists with unhindered, panoramic views of the mountains and islands along South Korea's scenic southern coast. Now it adds to the list of noticeable tourist attractions in the region.
