I think as immigrants we always feel that longing for the place we left, but when we visit it’s not what we remember and since that connection is not there anymore. In my case, I never fully connected to the UK, but I never felt at home in the country I left. So is the fate of many immigrants. You feel a bit floating aimlessly. But we make a life where we’ve come to. Looks like a great holiday 🎉

Marta, I have watched every video that you have ever posted on YouTube, the video are always fantastic, very informative and I appreciate them, but somehow your voice always sounded flat, when you spoke about Polska, your voice was filled with warmth and depth. It was so beautiful, the feelings that you projected were of intense and deep love. So for what it’s worth, here is my advice to you, congratulations you’re now financially free, which is a phenomenal success! Do not waste money soundproofing your house, when your true home, newly rediscovered is waiting for you to return. We only get one life, do not waste this life, and at the end of it regret what could have been. You have a beautiful heart, be well, and take care.

Hej Marta. I've been visiting Poland regularly for 12 years or more. I've seen the cities, eaten the food, met the people - even married one of them, understood the cultures & traditions, learnt the language, and later my son is half-polish. During all this time I've seen Poland change so much for the better in so many ways. Polish people are brave, studious, ambitious and proud. My wife, who also emigrated to the UK had this idea that Poland is still the same place that she left 20 years ago. It simply isn't true. I get the feeling after watching this video, maybe you've seen something to change your mind too. Pozdrawiam.

I moved back after 7 years in London and that was the best decision I made during the last 7 years :) I miss the city from time to time but my quality of life here is just so much better. The family is happy and I simply have a lot of time to do things. Still working for UK clients to. I hope you'll be happy wherever you stay!

There's nothing I wanted more than to escape my small town in the Midwest in the USA.
I left and lived in Abu Dhabi, Newport Beach and later NYC.
In 2015, I had enough. I wanted to go home.
I packed up my apartment in NYC and moved back to my hometown.
I couldn't be happier.
I never want to leave again.

I feel very similar to you - I could very much relate to the ambivalence you describe and craving for connection as I get older. How do you feel about the language? I notice that my mother tongue doesn’t come so natural anymore. Yet I never feel completely at home in the English language. Thanks for this beautiful video.

Really nice video. Wouldn't normally watch something like that, but it was good. I'm a Brit that spent a long time in Spain. I settled well and had lots of friends, but I was always a bit of an outsider, so I know what you mean by having the label of immigrant.

Immigrant of different origins living in the UK here. I have been to Poland a few times over the past 2 decades. I am afraid that living there may not be as easy for your partner as you living in London. What do you think?

Very nice. I don't feel home either when i visit...its just, too neutral now. Feels like being a tourist on a holiday. Friends? Well, after 11ys being away, the relationship fades slowly away. But I have my own family now and that's the best regardless where i go

I plan to move home back in Greece in retirement in next 3 years. Nothing beats the daily sun the sea and the food. I have missed Greece after 33 years here. But I do plan to downsize and have a smaller property in the UK to allow me to come back when I want to change scenes!

After each time in Poland i want to go back; I came to Uk just after EU and found good job and my future husband was already there ; i have friends here and there but now longing more for true new connections as old friendships faded away and i am not chasing them anymore ; i only miss time with my parents who passed away and left me a house in a very rural village where everything is simple, No traffic, lakes and good food all around so it is very tempting to go back ; we have a daughter so for now we are here in Uk and i always say we are global citizens and we can live for a while anywhere ; i know friends are important and family etc but you can always meet new people who have time for you 😊; this year i went to Poland more than any other year - i just wanted to be there and that is Ok and next year i am looking for experience like you had as I wanted to do it for a very long time ; good luck 😊and thanks for the video
