Years ago my stepbrother was in a road rage incident on Almeda Rd in Houston; the man used an axe handle to beat him so badly that even after multiple surgeries in the vain attempt to save his life, after 4 days he died. His injuries were so gruesome that we were forced to have a closed-casket wake and service; his cheekbone was crushed and one eye came out of its socket, both collarbones broken, multiple skull fractures and one ear was torn off. His killer brought down that axe handle SO. HARD., that when my brother put up his hands trying to shield himself, two of his fingers were severed. After the first surgery, he responded to family members and was able to squeeze our hands and even raise one leg a little bit off the bed in ICU. But he began to have mini-strokes from the swelling in his brain, and when there was no more brain activity the family was forced to disconnect his life support, and we let him go to God. We didn't know it at the time, but his mother had a heart attack from the trauma of her son's beating and subsequent death. She & my 2 stepsisters have never recovered from losing their beautiful, funny, sweet, handsome brother.
The man was caught and given a 25-year sentence - thanks to the letter-writing campaign we conducted to the TX Dept. of Criminal Justice, we kept him behind bars for almost 19 of those 25 years; he, too, had a wife and a 3 y/o baby daughter, the most beautiful little girl I have ever seen in my life. His mother was there, too.
There were NO winners in our situation - just more pain, pain that lasted for years and years.
And all of it was over 9 square feet of asphalt on a public road.
Please, PLEASE people! NO ONE deserves to die over their "audacity" to cut you off, get your desired parking space, or get in front of you on the highway. And YOU deserve better than to spend 20 years of your own precious life behind bars! THINK IT THROUGH, people!!!

Anyone who does this even if they just hit the car with a bullet should automatically be in prison for 30 years no paroles

I've been staying home more these days. Every time I go out, I see so much anger and aggression wherever I go. People are stressed more than I've ever seen.

Horrible. He should never be able to own a gun again. I’m glad to hear this woman is alive and have so much fortitude to be able to give info leading to his arrest. Blessings to her and her husband to get through this horrendous crime.

When you're driving, drive. Don't talk on your phone or text. You never know what kind of crazy person is going to get pissed at your distracted driving.

Shoots someone on the highway because he is mad, then cries like a baby when he gets arrested.

Always amazes me to see grown adults who can't control their emotions on the road, and think shooting someone is gonna be the answer to whatever beef they have🙄.

Moral of the story is to stay off your cellphone when you are driving and pay attention to your surroundings

A hot-headed young man who thinks he knows everything and that he is more special than anyone else. Our society feeds into selfishness, ego, and the notion that it is okay to verbally and physically lash out at others when they irritate you. Down here in Texas, we have a tremendous amount of road rage that is being reported daily; can you imagine what the numbers might be for unreported incidences?
Tears in his eyes? Because he got caught! Pretty sure he did not shed one tear for the woman he shot, nor any remorse. He probably was gloating and pretty pleased with himself for what he had done. He should be sentenced to prison for not just a year or even five; in this case, maybe even twenty-five or more. I can almost guarantee, that if he had not been caught he would have done this again and again, until he did get caught. NO MORE SOFT ON CRIME! Governor Abbott, please take note and make it a state crime with heavy penalties in prison for a minimum of twenty-five years with no injuries; fifty if there is bodiy harm and life with no parole, if there is a death.
