I'm from Connecticut in the USA and I've been visiting Paraguay every year since 2023

I went there in 2009 and loved the laid back feel of the place. Paraguay was a bit of a hidden gem back then and probably still is.

13:49 here in the north of England, UK… I drink Paraguayan Yerba Mate everyday, prefer their brands to the Argentinian ones. I went Paraguay for a few hours, taking the bus from the airport to the falls, back in 20003. I hope I can visit properly one day in the future.

I'm from Paraguay, living abroad and I have to say that this is one of the first vlog /blog about my country being fear about describing my lovely Country. I'm very grateful for it! Thought, there are a couple of things I would suggest to correct about the pronunciation such "Paraguay, mbeju, terere, jopara, and the river name" ;)

They say its a spanish speaking country but everyone does not speak Spanish and those who do have a difficult accent. You can get by in Asuncion but outside the city in el campo its mostly Guarani. And nobody speaks English. Its very hard to communicate outside the city.
One very important thing you didn't mention is it is HOT as HELL in the summer. over 100 F. It is quite dangerous if you aren't accustomed to it.
I never had any trouble in the city. I stayed in catedral and went out at night with no problems. I agree, Stay out of chacarita and dont go flashing your phone and cash. As for food, Empanada de Mandioca is a must mention. Also, to be clear, Terere is the drink. They dont really have "mate" in paraguay. The vessel is a guampa. The straw is a bombilla. In argentina you call the vessel a Mate for drinking mate. in paraguay you drink terere from the guampa and the herb is Yerba. This is important to know as it is such a big part of the culture.
And what about Piki Volley?
I love that you enjoyed paraguay. I hope this encourages others to check it out.

I lived in Paraguay for 29 of my current 67 years Just came back in 2021. It is a nice place, but crime is not rare, even outside the capital, and unless they happen on the event, the police are not that effective. On the other hand, you can live much cheaper than you seem to realize. I lived easily there on $200 a month, but outside Asuncion.. Your citation of other things is sometimes flawed, but not dangerous to visitors. I suggest not driving yourself unless you grew up in a chaotic driving environment. - I was glad I had been there for a while before I had to drive.
And the people, especially outside Asuncion, are the nicest and most polite I have ever known. If you mention that to them, they will tell you, 'We are only that way to foreigners' but I saw kindness to each other too. Decent medical care for routine things is available in any mid-sized town, but complicated procedures have to go to Asuncion or one or two other cities. Stay clear of the border with Brazil unless well guided, that is an area dominated by or disputed by Brazilian drug gangs.

About to head there in a couple weeks, thanks for this extremely informative "on-the-ground" video of someone who's actually been there. Much appreciated.

Thank you so much for this video! I want to visit Paraguay next year. There's not a lot of information about this country on YouTube and for me, the information you're sharing in this video is just priceless ❤️

Good morning just ran across your video. I used to live in Paraguay for about 15 years and also in Bolivia for about four years. Those are two awesome countries and I have definitely visited the amazing waterfalls. Those are awesome places to visit. I encourage everyone to go visit, at least the waterfall if nothing else.
But be prepared it’s a busy place. There’s also an amazing sort of zoo right across from the waterfall place. You can go see all kinds of exotic birds.

Very interesting! I’m a Latina from the states and I’ve never met a Paraguayan or can name anything from there except Spanish, Guarani and Asunción.

But I hope to get to visit it and learn more - I’m sure there are many wonderful things

Very informative video my friend, I could tell you took your time and did your research . I encourage more people to come to Paraguay 🇵🇾, but I think extending the Visa to 90 days and making it more affordable, would probably bring more tourist to Paraguay . Now with the 2030 World Cup being partially held in Paraguay, maybe more people will become aware of the country and what it has to offer . From the videos I see, the country is slowing modernizing itself. Overall, great video 👍

Just arrive via air to Asuncion 2 day ago. My partner and I did not have onward travel tix, did not know when/how we would leave & did not know where we would be staying the entire time. They let us in easily though as they do have discretion in what they do. I was ready to show financial info if needed to show that we can support ourselves. But, this is risky as more and more airlines and passport controls are asking about this factor.

Iguaçu ou Iguazu Falls belongs to Brazil and Argentina. The Paraguay's Falls, at the triple border(Br, Ar e Py) is called Monday's Falls. Very good video.
