#storytimelydia - learning with fun children’s stories
If your children enjoyed learning to count from 1-25 with the much-loved book "When I Am Big" then they are sure to like this fun and beautiful follow-up.
____
Why you will love this book:
Teachers - use this as a visual and entertaining story to expand on preschool and primary school maths lessons. This will help children practise some of the numbers between 1 and 100.
Parents - Great for creating fascinating and funny discussions with your children about what they can do as they get bigger.
Learning to read - The minimal text is great for young readers, this also gives great practise reading various numbers from 1-100. Since the book does not use all the numbers children need to concentrate on reading and studying the illustrations to check they are correct.
Homeschooling - Reinforce number recognition and stimulate children’s imagination, by getting them to create ideas for other numbers.
____
Learning Activities
Activity 1: Number Sequencing Race
Materials - 8/10 envelopes and flash cards of numbers between 1-100
In each envelope put five number cards in a random order
Have a child choose an envelope and pull out the numbers they find inside
The child must put the five numbers in the correct sequence from smallest to biggest
You can have this as a competition with one team working against the other
You can also ask the children to read the numbers out loud
Activity 2: Number Bingo
Create bingo cards with numbers 1 to 100 randomly placed on each card.
Call out numbers randomly, and children can mark the corresponding numbers on their cards.
To make it more interactive, use small objects like buttons or counters as markers.
The first child to complete a row or column shouts "Bingo!" and wins a small prize.
