Hi, thanks for the video. I'm doing some wiring for a workshop and I have a circuit of 120v outlets (yellow romex, 10 gauge), about 10 of them, running around the perimeter of the garage walls. About 6 inches above that, I'm running a separate 240v circuit (orange romex, 10 gauge) that will feed about 5 or 6 NEMA 6-20 outlets. These will provide power for things like a lathe, table saw and a milling machine. That solid 10 gauge is tough to work with! Bit by bit, I've discarded everything I would use for a 120v outlet, like connector clamps, wire nuts, and single gang plastic boxes as they are too small and too flimsy to handle stuffing that chunky wire into them. Even with double gang metal boxes, I'm finding it very difficult to get the wires dressed properly in there. the more I work with it, the more questions I have. 1. Are several 240v outlets arranged on the same circuit, or is this discouraged? I ask because adding pigtails to the boxes fills them up so fast. I won't be using any of these tools at the same time, so it's not going to trip the breaker, but I wonder about the integrity of so many connections in these heavier load circuits. If someone runs 10/3 romex to a mini-split, for instance, there's no splices... 2. Are lever clamps allowed, to insure a solid connection? (Twisting those wires isn't easy either) 3. The basic home depot NEMA 6-20 outlet- the connectors on them are very flimsy. I have a couple of receptacles on order from mcmaster carr to see if the build quality is better. Would love to see a video explaining some of these details.

Hi There, I’m installing all new wiring for my new stove. The instructions say to use a 40 amp 3 prong cord. What size wire do I need from the outlet to the breaker panel? Thanks

On the website, you state " However in our most recent code code is stated that we are permitted to run this up to 50 Aamps of overcurrent protection even though the wires only ready for 40 amps.

The code stipulates that if it is used for an electric heat resistant flow it can be rated at 50 A instead of 40"

Could you provide a code reference for this? I'm unaware of such a rule, but quite interested if one does exist.

Why foes the chart for wire sizes have 3 different cumns?

Voltage has nothing to do with wire size. Amperage does. So asking "What Size Wire For 240 Volt" is a meaningless question.
