Wow the narrator was trying hard to make you like her or maybe even sympathize with her and her people but failed massively. She was manipulative and a liar, the only reason the process started changing him to begin with was because she made his ship crash on the planet which lead him to that castle and she knew that but pretended like he actually had a choice. She knew that the only real choice he had was do what she wanted or die. I guess Im a petty kind of person because I would have flipped her the bird and said I choose death and smiled knowing that her and the plans she had to revitalize her people would go down with me. And the fact that he just folded in the end and was acting like he loved her and that she wasn't an evil you know what just made me dislike the story even more.

The story is ok but predictable. No man if presented with this choice would say no.., men know our immortality lies in the children we sire. Those who don’t are lying to themselves. And every choice automatically changes the outcome, so tired that phrase about their life never being the same.
