Excellent for us to remember when ill health or "a bad circumstance " happens. But we will have the victory if we stand firm and cling to our Lord.

I was just considering Eustace for my patron saint for when I become a catechumen this weekend, this is perfect timing!

If i had a nickel for when a cross was revealed between the antlers of a great stag to a canonized saint.

Id have two nickels.

Saint Eustace and saint Hubert pray for us.

I certainly dont know much, but I've learned that God didn't put any of us here to be victims of circumstance... but VICTOR'S over circumstances.. 🙏☦️

How timely this is. My family and I recently began visiting one of Elder Ephraim's Athonite Monasteries here in the States, and shortly after meeting the Hegumena, a Megaloschema Nun, I saw a white stag in the fields at or adjacent to the Monastery. I knew it had Christian symbolism, but I didn't know the history. Thank you! Glory to God for all things! ☦️

St. Hubert of Liège is another saint who had a vision of a cross between a stag's antlers. He is the patron saint of hunters in the west.

He is the inspiration behind the logo of the liquor brand Jagermeister (master hunter) which is supposedly based on older herbal tonic cures common to the german region.

He also lends his name to the "St Huberts Key" which was used in older times to "cure" rabies (a piece of metal was heated and applied to a fresh bite from a rabid animal, the heat would sterilize the wound and hopefully prevent the rabies virus).

He has been overlooking and interceding, as shown in recent events. ☦

Narnia! The Pevensies hunt the white stag at the end of C.S. Lewis's "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, " and their hunt leads them back through the wardrobe "to arrive where [they] started / And know the place for the first time. / Through the unknown, remembered gate / When the last of earth left to discover / Is that which was the beginning" (T.S. Eliot). And then, of course, there's Eustace Clarence Scrubb. Thank you for the opportunity to contemplate connections here. And thank you for all your work, which is a real encouragement to me here in Alaska.

Honestly, I had to stop researching the lives of the saints, because it was making me incredibly anxious and depressed. I’m living through, my version of “hell on earth, ” and unfortunately, these stories are making me question so many things. It’s very frustrating, that God lets us suffer so much, when we only get one chance to enjoy this life.

I understand that we are promised eternal life, but if we’re there for eternity, I still want to be able to enjoy this life, or whatever is left of it, and hopefully God shows mercy on me, and allows me some peace with the time I have left here.

What I really love about this story is that Christ asks him:"are you sure you wanna do this?" showing that the Lover of all mankind doesn't force anyone to him but is there with us the whole way if we "steadfastly" decide to do.
