👉 Learn how to find the derivative of the inverse of a function. The derivative of a function, y = f(x), is the measure of the rate of change of the function, y, with respect to the variable x. The process of finding the derivative of a function is called differentiation. Let f(x) be a function and g(x) be the inverse of f(x), then the derivative of f(x) is given by the reciprocal of the derivative of f as a function of g(x).
Mathematically, we have if y = f(x) and g(x) = f^(-1)(x), then g'(x)=1/f'(g(x)). Whether we are given an equation or we are given the values of the functions, plugging the values into the above equation gives the desired inverse.
