BCIS Phuket - Songkran 2022

The traditional Thai New Year festival of Songkran is seen as one of the most valued traditions in Thailand. The word Songkran derives from Sanskrit meaning to move or step forward. The festival in itself incorporates essential values of the Thai way of life such as the value of family and community. During the Songkran festivities, family members gather to share their appreciation, love and respect for one another. It is a celebration that embraces goodwill, love, compassion. and thankfulness, using water as the means of expression. The Songkran festival, celebrated on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of April every year, is one for a community, enhancing goodwill and unity in our society around feel-good celebrations. On Friday 8th April 2022, our school community gathered to celebrate the Thai tradition on the last day of Term 2.
