I feel for this family my little brother was Handicap and blind he passed away when he was 13 years old I'm 31 now and I'm still hurting may God bless the family and child

Oh dear. There was another incident similar to this not too long ago in indiana..my son is nonverbal and is autistic. Also, loves water. And this is my WORST fear that's why I'm so uptight. People think I'm too paranoid. They dont understand, it only takes a blink of an eye

This is like the 5th time this year I have heard a story about a autistic child drowning in a retention pond outside a hotel/motel. One of the stories the mother led her child to the pond and let him drown. Tragic

My son is nonverbal autistic turning 4 in July... it has been hard so this story scares me to my core! I'm so sorry this family is going through this tragedy. Its a wake up call for EVERYONE... Especially the ones who knows a child diagnosis to keep all eyes and ears on the child no matter what in unfamiliar places. I hope this family can heal. My heart is with you

Kids don't walk away they are just being kids. To be a parent means to always have yours eyes on a child 5 and younger at all times!!!!

We've learned that retention ponds are deadly and need to not be accessible to children. We have regulations about swimming pools but the government doesn't face any repercussions for maintaining these deathtraps?
