Thanks for checking out our videos. The phrase "Run Steep Get High" was coined on a training run in Silveron, Colorado one of my favorite places in the world to run. We hope to inspire you to reach for that higher peak and goal in life by living "The Steep Life"!

Ultimately I like this choice. I understand that the veteran did assist those who were dedicated to Hardrock and finished it consistently, but ultimately we need to let everyone enjoy things like the Hardrock, and while I of course want everyone to get a slot who wants one, the demand for slots is pretty high, and even if missing the race for a year or two is a bummer, someone getting their first Hardrock ticket and getting a chance is important, and I would hope we can all cheer on other runners as they enjoy this sport that we love! Keep up the great content, and I hope we can all get out there and enjoy this wonderful life and sport we’ve been blessed with!

I have a couple questions if someone could help explain. Thanks ahead of time. 1) If you run a qualifier and do not get in 1st year in the lottery, for the 2nd year you enter do you need to run another qualifier in order to have 2 lottery tickets? 2) Do you have to run a qualifier every year to be in the lottery?

Seems like a good move. Anxious to see the distribution of slots. In 2022, being in the male never category meant you had to start in your 20s and hope for your 40s.
It's their race but man it just sucks. Softrock becoming more organized would be truly wonderful.

As a European I have given up on Hardrock. Two qualifying races in the whole of Europe 😔 (excluding ripoff UTMB). Will be an amazing race this year, like a rumble in the jungle 😃

Good move. As the veteran group ages-out combing the pools would have been necessary anyway. One other change I’d recommend: running one of qualifiers really doesn’t mean much as far as being able to finish HR. It truly is, as Dale says, a “graduate level race”. I’d like to see them have a virtual qualifier (Strava segment) on a portion of the race course that applicants would have to complete under a given time, before entering the lottery. Much of the course is not on system trails, so to avoid resource damage it would have to be in one of the more established sections of the course, like Ouray to Burrows and back. You really don’t gain an appreciation for the enormity of finishing HR until you’ve been out there and run some of the trails. It takes a massive effort. Of course, this would be a major expense for Europeans and those from other parts of the world. Maybe similar virtual courses could be set up elsewhere, but there really is no substitute for San Juans.

Why do you think they do not do a raffle like western states?
