Molasses is what remains after the sugar has been removed from sugar cane juice by concentration. If only one crop of crystals is removed, it is called First Molasses. If the second crop is removed, it is termed Second Molasses, and so on. When no more cane sugar can be extracted, it is called Final or Black Strap Molasses.
Lighter grades of molasses made from sugar cane are edible and used in baking, candy-making, and in production of rum. Blackstrap and other lower grades are used in mixed animal feeds and in the industrial production of vinegar, citric acid, and other products.
The cast iron 1224A-CHC Series™ features Viking Pump's O-Pro® Barrier seal - which prevents leakage. This series has jacketing which allows the pump to be heated by steam or hot oil prior to startup. They have capacities up to 500 gallons per minute.
