I got chills listening here. Heck, I cry with the National anthem playing. My daughter served 8 years Naval Aviation and left as a wounded vet; after following 6 generations of Service.
The reason, in my humble opinion, Civil Service has waned is because the leaders of our Country has so fundamentally dropped the ball, both in credibility and representation. I am a moderate Independent. I see such polarisation in the parties, I see a Supreme Court taking over our freedoms, I see corporations not paying their fair share, and now I see republicans causing child hunger in our Country again. They do not care about our children or the families that are supposed to raise them. The blaming the poor is from draconian Europe. Instead to appealing to a higher nature they blame. Funny white collar crime makes up most of the welfare fraud.
I am nearly 70 and a flag flies in my yard. My higher education and service was to the Criminal Justice System. And I fear for my Country and this right wing plague on reality.
The eighties was full of moral crisis such as clerical pedophiles, gangs, crack epidemics, while criminalising youth while at a low time violent crime period in 30 years. Incidentally a time of latch kid kids and Republican leadership. They are doing the same now and allowing even our infrastructure to crumble in favor of the wealthy and corporations. Why don’t people get that wealth isn’t going to trickle down to YOU much less Main Street?
The point is there has been so much politicising issues for a party benefit that even patriotism is now in jeopardy. Our families are in jeopardy because there are no social nets while Republicans falsely say you are trash. Why would a society beaten down by politicians want to look at the flag as I do every single day?
More need to walk the walk in politics that leads by example, like this hero here. To take the Oath to the Constitution as seriously as my daughter to her Country, and now as a valued member of law enforcement. I witnessed the result of such political 0:59 misinformation January 6 and republicans are still trying to minimise that day! Ivam to the conclusion that every Republican should have to retake their oath of office or be censored in their respective government arm.
