What is Zamzam water? According to Islamic and other religious narratives, the Zamzam water is sourced from the Zamzam well; this is a miraculously generated source of water, which opened up thousands of years ago when the son of Ibrahim (Abraham), Ismaʿil (Ishmael), was left with his mother Hajar (Hagar) in the desert.

The Zamzam Well is a well located within the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is located east of the Kaʿba; the holiest place in Islam.
From a scientific perspective Zamzam water is colourless and odorless, but has a distinctive taste, with a pH of 7.9–8, and so is slightly alkaline. It has a relatively high concentration of magnesium, calcium, potassium and sodium.

This is my personal experience. I had a terrible upset stomach, terrible diarrhea and couldn't stop vomiting. Even water was nauseating to me and I vomited almost instantly. I was exhausted from constant back and forth to the bathroom. Had medicine but I vomited the medicine instantly. Even though I was very tired, I couldn't sleep because laying down made me neauseous. So I prayed and drank zamzam water, and by Allah's will I didn't throw up after that and fell asleep, alhamdulillah.

If you've drank it before, you will notice the taste is so different from our regular water. It does taste like it has high mineral content. I don't know if anyone else feel this, but when I drink zamzam water, I feel chills around my head. Like my hair got goosebumps. I don't know how to explain it better but that's what I feel whenever I drink it.

They did some experiment and pumped millions of gallons of water from this well and took down the water level drastically. With an hour is was right back to where it was. This well has been operational for thousands of years and it has been used by millions and millions of people each and every single year and it never dries up. SubhanAllah

Zam Zam means 'Stop Stop'. Abraham was asked by God to leave his wife Hajar and baby Ishmael in the middle of a barren desert (today Mecca) and continue his journey alone. When the mother and toddler ran out of supplies, the toddler started crying out of thirst. His mother desperately ran around chasing mirrages in the desert hoping it to be a water source. Then, suddenly, water started gushing out from the ground (some say from where baby Ishmael was kicking out of thirst). So much water started gushing out that Hajar said 'Zam Zam' or 'Stop Stop'. And that is how it got its name.

Later when travellers saw birds flock and fly over a known barren land they made their way towards it and found Hajar and Ishmael living by a potentially unlimited water source. Soon a town and farmlands were set up around it. A few years later when Ishmael was older, he built the Ka'ba with his father Abraham near the Zam Zam well and established it as a center to worship God. The kaba that you see Muslims circumambulating in Mecca today was built by them.

The reason it's called "miracle water" is because of how the well Originated. Hajar, the wife of the prophet Abraham, was left alone in the desert with her infant son, the prophet Ismail, and he was crying of thirst and no water sources around because they were in the desert. She ran between the Safa and Marwa hills seven times trying to find a water source(Muslims to this day run between the two hills seven times in Hajj). The water started flowing from under the feet of Ismail peace be upon him and that's how the well started. It all started when god ordered prophet Abraham peace be upon him to leave his family in the desert to test his faith. And because he did and submitted to god, god made the water flow for them and saved them. That's the miracle not the minerals in the water.
