MS Dhoni has won the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of the Decade following a fan vote, for his decision to recall Ian Bell after a controversial run out in the 2011 Nottingham Test between England and India.

The incident won the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award in 2011.
From the final ball of the afternoon session on the third day, Bell on 137* was run out following a mistaken assumption that the ball had reached the rope and gone for four, with Abhinav Mukund breaking the stumps while Bell wandered off to talk to his batting partner Eoin Morgan.

Over the course of tea, the India team led by captain Dhoni decided to retract the appeal
Apart from Dhoni, India captain Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Brendon McCullum, Mahela Jayawardene were also nominated among others.

I'm not a cricket expert but has there ever been a better captain than Dhoni. He's one of the smartest cricketer's I've ever seen. He's won every major trophy there is to win as a captain. He's a real leader.

CRICKET is a gentleman's game that's why the spirit of the game quote is used. It's not in the rules but a moral and an ethical understanding of the game so what MSD did here might not have benefited India's situation in the game but it definitely showed that India can still play a gentleman's game in front of crude modern day english fans!!!!👍
