😅 By the way, I meant to say “Fresh” ackee not “Real” ackee! Canned ackee is still real, guys! My bad! Love you all! Hope you enjoy this video! -Sash 🙏🏾✨💕

If you're using ackee in the can, I prefer just adding it directly to the saute pan. Boiling it makes it mushy. I think ackee and saltfish is better when the ackees can maintain more of their shape and integrity and not break down so much into tiny pieces. Interestingly enough, I prefer the saltfish to be in small pieces. Deddy, it still looked delicious!

When he’s cutting up those veggies it was so refreshing. I love that part. They were so fresh looking and nice.

Suggestion: keep a kettle of water on stove to replace water from salt fish. The use of cold water while cooking hardens the fish, and takes a longer time. I remember his wife cooking with hot water on hand to add to cooking pot.

This 61 year old American woman of German ancestry can't wait to make this! I'm excited. I live alone but can freez leftovers and travel the world through food. May you have many blessings.

I'm half Neapolitan so was raised on Italian/English cuisine. My Jamaican bestie introduced my to Ackee & Saltfish many years ago & it has become my all time best food to eat ever since.

I grew up in NYC and was blessed to eat the foods and dishes of my neighbors and friends from around the world. The foods from the Caribbean, Latin America, South America and various countries in Africa made the most impressions on me. It's beautiful to see so many home cooks sharing their techniques, recipes and food. I love Deddy and Sasha! I am definitely going to try his recipes!

This video melts my heart. Made me feel like I was in the kitchen with my grandmother! 💚💛🖤 Thanks so much for sharing! One day I'll attempt to make the ackee & salt fish on my own; Grandma still makes it for me, even at 33. (spoiled first grandchild 😜🥰)

You can also drain the water off the ackee, pour boiling water over it..instead of boiling it in the pot.
