So I tried playing FALLOUT 76 in 2023...

Fallout 76 serves as Bethesda Game Studios' biggest learning lesson. Heading back into it in 2023 just months before the launch of Starfield, it's important that we reflect on what the game got right (yes, really) and wrong.

The Scorched ai breaking right when Matty was trying to talk about the improvements being made was comedy gold lol

Started having a wonder round in this game about 2 weeks ago. Sometimes the AI is buggy - but I’d say that in 90% of my play it’s been fine. For myself, it’s the crafting, building, survival and exploration that has me coming back

Agree completely with the environment appreciation. When I'm not doing some fun event like Spin the Wheel, I climb up rocks and find flora and fauna, streams and lakes, fabulous views, beautiful clouds and sky and "Oh it looks like rain is coming this way." Jumping to player camps. NPCs that make you laugh. Keeping a light-hearted attitude goes a long way for this game.

If there's anything from Fallout I want in Starfield, it's atmosphere. Specifically Fallout 3's atmosphere when you go into the subways. Space is scary so I want this feeling of isolation and almost claustrophobia like how I felt when I first went into the subways in FO3.

Been playing a lot of 76 recently, the steady flow of content tuned towards events is always nice, heres hoping that Atlantic city is more of an expedition than just event stuff. Regardless though if you never played 76 I would say that now is the best time to start, there are a lot of QoL things that were not there earlier that makes playing a joy. That's not even including the base building which I find to be one of the most fun aspects. (and plan hunting)

I can see it becoming repetitive when you’ve done all the quests, but right now I’ve been having a lot of fun going through the game over the past couple months

I never finished fallout 76 when it came out but I started to replay it in 2023 and I’ve actually really enjoyed it. No as much as FO3 but I still really like it

Not gonna lie. This game is WAY better than Starfield.

I regularly play this game. It’s pretty fun despite the bugs.

It still has problems, it is completely playable though, just isn’t an actual fallout experience. Like your not going to find a cool named weapon off the beaten path that rewards your exploration. It is all about the legendary grind and Skinner box mechanics. But if you want to go through the story it isn’t the worst thing out there.

Despite all the bugs and shocking AI I've recently gotten into FO76 and I've really been enjoying it. Just exploring the wastes and visiting random player camps. It's nowhere near as bad as people like to pretend it is.

Honestly enjoyed 76 at launch when i could play without bugs on ps4. Now I have a beefy PC and playing it the last couple weeks after the all the updates me and my buddy are loving it. Incredible world, tons of weapons and loot, daily events and the wastelanders update. Its a game I would recommend now.

Five characters all over level 500, yeah I quite like the game lol. I have little breaks now and again but come back. There is fun in this game even after all this time.

Like the majority of folks, I bought into the bad press with this game and didn’t even bother looking at it and when it came up in conversation, I would just add “I heard it was bad”. Fast forward to this year and with the game being game pass for Xbox, there really was no reason for me to not try it. Within 30 minutes, I was hooked. Within 1 week, I was a power armor honey Badger and had to collect and upgrade to the 9s every set of power armor. I didn’t purchase “the pit “ for the expedition; it was 100% for the core recharger. I blasted through every single story line within 3 weeks, and farmed the events constantly for the bullion to unlock the 2 sets of power armor that must be purchased with gold as well as the upgrades required by gold. Built a complex base above and below ground, decorated to the 9s.

Within 4 months However… The only thing that was bringing me back were the variant power armor skins. This last one was a full on center season pass requirement of the full card completion and it generally looks pretty terrible. But I was breaking for Starfield anyway.

I will say, 76 does have some pretty nice vistas and visuals. It's one thing they did nearly perfectly imo.

It has a Great Community!!!! Love playing with my friends. The exploration part I like. After a bad day at work, this game allows me to vent and beat the crap out of some Super Mutants.

The next big update will bring in a feature where when you start a new character you can either start at Level 1 fresh outta the vault or you can start at Level 20 fresh out of the vault with a choice of a build. And whichever build you choose will with get an appropriate weapon for that build and ammo for the weapon and a few other bits and bobs. Also there will also be a Donation Box placed outside the vault that players can drop stuff in for new players coming out of the vault.

The free camera is not only for editing the base, you can build freely, there are even daily or weekly quests that require you to build in free camera mode.
