Coronavirus - a fast-moving infection originating in China - has spread to more than 70 countries and claimed more than 3,200 lives.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has upgraded the global risk of the coronavirus outbreak to "very high" - its top level of risk assessment.

But the UN body said there was still a chance of containing the virus if its chain of transmission were broken.

WHO head Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also stressed that fear and misinformation were the biggest challenges to overcome.

More than 50 countries have now reported cases of coronavirus.

"It's a wonderful time to travel!"
Think the Coronavirus is saying the same thing.

It’s stupid to give an advice to travel at this time. Don’t listen to him. You still have plenty of time for your vacation & don’t need to go NOW.

A travel corespondent, with no qualification in health matters, who relies on the travel industry for his over sized pay packet and clearly has no morals is an obvious choice for advice. Thanks BBC.

Planes aren’t clean professionally . I work in the airline industry and I’ve over looked all areas and when you go on a plane you need to wipe down your seat okay

These people pretending travel is safe are delusional.

What a load of rubbish. Be pro active and change your routines. It's because of travel that we are in this mess to start with. Dont get your advice from people that are more worried about the economy that your health.

Checking temperature is ineffective due to the long incubation period. If we can be spreading the virus for two weeks or more *before* symptoms then what’s the point?

What a load of trollop this was with persons that could not be more biases if you tried. they were encouraging everyone to go on holiday and see the wonderful world, airplanes are clean and perfectly safe. Then they stated that this could still be recovered like China did???? YES by stopping people travelling!!!! Very poor of the BBC to lean towards economic safety rather than people safety..I like the way the travel expert stays away from cruise ship safety and the BBC dont ask.

Airplanes are NOT cleaned regularly. Get plenty of rest on your flight.
