One should see what the archaeologist Ahmad al-Jallad said on this same channel about this specific interview; Shoemaker, who is a great scholar indeed, unfortunately made the mistake of classing up the ancient Arabs as an illiterate society when it turn they were actually a non-literate society, which is completely different. Illiterate societies cannot read and write. Non-literate societies CAN read and write, though they do not use it for formal purposes. Wherefore the ancient Arabs wouldn't have had memory problems due to illiteracy, as they were indeed literate. Ahmad al-Jallad is a leading archaeologist and has discovered 1000s upon 1000s of ancient Arabic inscriptions, proving that the ancient Arabs, even before the Qur'an, did in fact have knowledge of writing. That said, Professor Shoemaker's reasoning, in this regard (though perhaps not in other aspects), is simply fallacious. 🐸☕
