Dotonbori is a MUST for fantastic food in Osaka - especially at nights as the lights by the river are just stunning! Staying at hostels is a great way to get suggestions from employees who are locals and know the best places to eat incredible Japanese food! For me a highlight was definitely exploring the incredible Kyoto and taking time to visit the older and more traditional styles of villages and houses! We also did 5 days skiing in Niseko... the snow there is magical and cannot be missed! I’ve only been home from japan for three days now and I’m already planning to go back! Such a gorgeous country!

We had gone to Japan in 2008 and ever since we wanted to go back to see the sumo tournaments. So in November we finally did it. It was such fun. We were pretty much the only caucasians there. Japan is so steeped in culture and history. It's definitely my number one favorite place to visit---and we just returned from Singapore last week (so that should really say something). We are trying to figure out if we can go back to Japan each year along with another trip somewhere because we love it so much.

We're headed out to Japan for about 8 days in April, we're doing the fun2drive thing in Hakone, seeing the garden in Kanazawa, kicking around in Tokyo for awhile, and maybe heading to Nagoya for a day trip as well. Cannot wait, thanks for all your content.
