I lived in my car 🚗 for about a year. It was a Humbling Experience and Taught Me not to take things for granted. Anyone can become homeless at any given time !!! And now at the age of 56 thinking about buying a Motorhome and Live of the Grid. I would like to travel and just get away from Society and Enjoy Nature. I've come to a Conclusion that Everything is a Luxury and can be taken away at any given Moment.

3. Unlimited data plan for cellphone for emergencies, transfer money, etertainment, work, communication

I wish car manufacturers would start making live-in cars🚘, where the passenger seat can easily turn into flat bed🛏, good storage spaces for almost anything you need, like blankets & pillows, even a small safe for important stuff, like cash💸, credit cards💳 & even document's📃. Also, get with Individual's who already live in their cars & for advise, they're the ones to ask, cause they have most experience when it comes to living in a car🚘.👍

I lived in my car for about 15 yrs. and have found your ideas are valuable. Window covers are a must. You cannot count on gyms especially if there are virus restrictions. It is a decent idea but I would check out truck stops and body wipes if 1st 2 ideas fail. There are other extreme ways to your ideas but the average person cant handle them.

I sometimes sleep in my truck in cold Chicago. In addition to your list I have 2 more: buddy heater and 2 carbon monoxide detectors.

I lived the lifestyle in my 20s back in the 80s. Lived and worked in SW Los Angeles, rent would eat most of my paycheck and purchasing even the cheapest condo was at best a pipe dream. I had the gym membership. I had a Toyota 2wd pickup with a topper shell (dark windows). Data plans didn't exist then. Was able to buy a small condo with cash in 1997 because of the steep decline in the real estate market at the time.

Also a mail/PO box from the post office. I'll be homeless in a couple of months. Will be traveling for a while.

I just spray painted my reflectix window coverings flat black on one side. They are 5 years old and still good. I use a windshield screen. I don't cover the driver and passenger side windows so my vehicle looks empty. I stretch a blanket across the backs of the front seats to block out any light from the front seat area. Works for me.

I sleep in my car when I'm on the road got my business and it's been 3 years now. I drive over 100, 000 miles a year, and I sleep at truck stops and rest areas and occasionally Walmart if they're open 24 hours. Never had any problems, a female traveling by herself with a 4-lb dog lol
And window coverings were life-changing!! It's like living in my own little tiny house when I'm on the road, I sleep better in my car than I do my apartment and king size California bed lmao

Some 4-yrs-late Deep Thoughts: It's interesting how much these 3 things are about how you interact with the rest of the world. Windows covers are about privacy and non-intrusion, gym membership is about self-presentation (along with self care & self-esteem), and wireless access is a primary medium for interaction with others.

Forget the privacy angle, you need to cover the windows or you will be sunbathing every morning till you wake up in a pool of sweat if its over 45 degrees F.

Cheap, custom window covers...
Buy large black construction papers from Walmart - they are about $1 for a 2ftx3ft sheet. One per window is a good rule of thumb (2 for the windshield/rear windows). Using scissors, cut to fit. Tape pieces together if necessary. Cut a tiny hole near the edge to allow easy removal the cover, otherwise you'll have to roll your window down and push through it. When not in use, stack them, roll them up, bind with an elastic.

Thanks for the tips. I love out of my car being forced to work out of town. I tinted my windows as dark as I could got a front shade for my front window. I couldn’t agree more with your tips. I like to play a movie from crackle peacock or Pluto it helps block out the sounds around me. I also have a charging block for charging my phone. Thanks for the post and tips it’s not the best living situation but it works
