I would like to know what you would consider, from your experience, in an infant (not neonate) not on antibiotics, who presented with sudden bulging anterior fontanelle, hyperreflexia, clonus and fever, but with CSF findings all normal.. besides a viral meningitis, what else should we be considering? Dr Osama It is my personal experience that getting clean CSF is more difficult in older children/ adolescents as compared to less than 5 year old children, what is your experience and any suggestions to hit the space accurately in older children/ adolescents. Also I think along with local anesthesia, sedation should be used to make it as painless as possible and also for possible retrograde amnesia with ketamine
