At 10:27 u can skip ahead 58s to 11:25 without missing anything important.

At 8:42 u can skip ahead 28s to 9:10 without missing anything important. You can thank me later.

Edit: Bonus: At 8:02, skip forward 20s to 8:22 without missing anything important. Dear levy, pls stop wasting our time with all ur pointless, useless and unentertaining banter. Thanks :)

Imagine ragequitting a chess game and then 125 years later people are still clowning on you for it

I'm so happy we have another historical chess game. This is one of my favorite series that you do, and I was missing them.

Levy: you need to make a getaway square for your king so you don’t get mated

Steinitz: no, I don’t think I will

That was an insane potential mating sequence... Steinitz was truly a brilliant master 🤯

Dang I am disappointed in you levy. We have gone too long without Magnus in the title

Levy: Is this not the most savage moment in chess you've ever seen?
Magnus: it's decent

I'm also super impressed with von Bardeleben for apparently seeing this sequence as well! He wouldn't have rage-quit otherwise!

Damn, this game is majestic. We take historical chess for granted thinking they used to play suboptimal stuff and we're all smart with our computers but those guys didn't have engines back in the day and still managed to find brilliant tactics that wouldn't convince the latest Stockfish until a high depth. Makes you think, how monstrous players like Steinitz would be if they lived in our time.

Levy, your story telling skills on these historical games is brilliant. You should do more of these type of content. Great game too.

Been a while since Levy talked/analyzed a historical game. Thanks for reminding us that chess was pretty renowned and decorated even back then.

“Oh my gosh, I’m so bad you guys, how did I not see the mate in 10? Oh my gosh, I should have seen that you guys, that was so bad of me. So bad. OK let’s go smurf on some 700s in bullet”
Hikaru, if he was playing black

That was honestly insane. I love these historical games. Can you do more?

I love it when you tell us about your everyday life while explaining chess. It makes the video so more human and personal. Love your content just the way it is. Keep it up Levy! <3

"Hello!!" First time I've seen this game - absolutely amazing!! Steinitz calculates a 16-17 move sequence leading to forced mate in 10 all while facing mate in 1! Calculating monster indeed!!

Thats an incredible ending even without the story of the ragequit. The story elevates it, So cool.
