The approval is significant as it allows them to target sites more than 200 km inside Russia, but to suggest they will "obliterate" Russia is the height of propagadistic hyperbole.

Basically, the Russian position boils down to, "It's OK if we strike Ukraine with long and medium-range missiles, but don't you dare give the Ukrainians similar non-nuclear missiles so they can defend themselves, or give them permission to use them against us, or we will use nuclear missiles in return." Neither the ATACMS nor Storm Shadow missiles present a legitimate existential threat to Russia, as they are tactical-level weapons that are non-nuclear.

The only reason whay NATO forces are positioned as close to the Russian border as they are is to keep Putin honest and dissuade him from invading any part of Europe and seizing territory that doesn't belong to him. NATO has no desire to invade Russia.

The hypocrisy coming from Russia is rank.

Both US and UK signed, with Russia, to defend the sovereignty of Ukraine in the Budapest Memorandum so why do people argue against supporting them. As the offender Russia should not be surprised that they are facing such a response which should in fact be much stronger. Hope Trump does not allow Putin to get away with this and continues to support Ukraine.

The West and the USA should help Ukraine for one simple reason. Because we said we would... if we give up on Ukraine, then we have lost all integrity.

They gave up their nuclear weapons on the word that America, and by extension Nato gave many years ago.

Arming, Ukraine is in fact defending the U.S. Russia has wasted half of its manpower and half, at least, of its armaments, fighting a country 1/4 its size. Its economy is ruined. And it doesn't have the money to rebuild the lost military resources. Russia's ability to sell its military goods to the rest of the world has been greatly diminished due to the failure of its weapons against the weapons the West has provided.

Fun fact: Taiwan has just received the first of 64 ATACMS systems. The launch points for any Chinese invasion of Taiwan are in easy range of ATACMS.
