I was born on Feb 29, I literally get one every 4 years. They should be happy with the one they normally get.

The birthday is special because it's one day in year and it's a day you were born.
If we start celebrating half birthdays, quarter birthdays or any other birthday then the actual day we were born on will lose its meaning.

Half Birthdays are great for kids who have birthdays in the winter or at Christmas time. Sometimes it's -3 degrees and no one shows up for the party.

I think half birthdays can be nice if:
- your kids are 6 months apart and your family can’t really afford 2 parties
- your child was born on a holiday like New Years or Christmas, and you want to make a big deal out of their birthday like you do with the other kids
- your child is going through an illness, and you’re not sure how many birthdays they’ll get to experience

Oh dear, I have 9 grandkids to buy gifts for....Birthdays and Holidays. PLEASE don't start up with half birthdays. I stopped buying my own kids nicer gifts cuz of all the little babies they made. I am soooo tired of a society that encourages greed.

I know some parents who do half birthdays if their child has a life limiting illness, and that's probably the only reason I'd say it's quite understandable.

I don't agree ALL kids are spoiled these days. I think that's a very generalised comment as there are still kids living in poverty today. my kids have lived with nothing and now we have a little bit to spare, they are GRATEFUL. they know what having nothing is like.

I celebrate my birthday with my mother because she's the one that brought me in this world on my birth day.

My mum never gave me a birthday, she used to say what I am being celebrated for she was the one in labor its suppose to be her day not mine.

I agree...Half-Birthdays are not necessary! However... As we grow...Birthday "Day" until our 20s. 20s = 1 week Celebration. 30s = 2 weeks Celebration. 40s = 3 weeks Celebration. 50s and older = The Whole Month Celebration!!! Yes...by the time we are 50...we deserve the whole month. Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy! Of course...this is by choice. Besides...everyone can't help you celebrate at the same time (parties, movie, dinner, brunch, shopping...etc...) ....Soooo...Be Happy and Spread the LOVE!!! ...of the Birthday Celebrations!

They have one birthday and they have Easter, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, and every holiday in between it’s ridiculous. Even on our birthday we’re cooking and cleaning. 😂

@steveharvey in my house I take 10 people bowling and everyone pays for themselves. I don't get presents for any holidays of the year, I get taken care of throughout the year, lunch money once a week. My 18th is a week away and it is the first party I am having since I was 5, so I get the chance to have fun with it and that's it.
