If you had $1000 to spend on precious metals such as gold or silver, what would you buy?

I share a deal for silver at spot price, but what other items would I buy in the situation where there was a $1000 budget? Would I buy gold bullion? Silver bullion? Bars, rounds, coins, or silver eagles?

I like to stack fractional american gold eagles, american silver eagles, and silver bars. What are some ways of keeping your dollar cost average as low as possible? How can you get more silver or gold for your hard earned dollars?

SH: I also took advantage of that 5-generic-at-spot deal with MM, got a nice 5oz silvertowne bar to get the free ship - $1.65 over spot per oz average. What a deal, "and then this happened" the next day spot went down over $1! I guess that's why we DCA. Great video, I always like your chalkboard reviews, and a healthy variety on the $1K buys. Good catch on the quarter, Mrs. SH, I always chack the edges when I get change.

I hit both Monuments spot deal as well as JM's deal - spot is spot. Add to that - spot is fairly low. I found a good deal from Bullion Exchange on 5 dollar proof gold (.24) for 486 USD - that's a good bargain, and they come in caps.

To be honest, all gold is liquid.
Eagles are your worst bet. Better to get Sovereigns or Maples... not a fan of tenth ounce anymore.
I stick with 7% premium for gold and tenth ounce isn't that.

For a thousand, I can get a non graded $10 liberty pre 33 so that's what I would do.

Gold is not an option with the GSR so high IMHO. If the GSR was much lower I’d definitely buy gold. However, I’m also under the belief that silver is soon to become more valuable than gold. Sure, out of the ground it is more abundant, but once it’s above ground it quickly becomes far more rare.

I'm not a huge generic buyer either but silver at spot is a great deal. I think you got a pretty good mix of metals for $1000.
