In this book review I summarize Tremper Longman's work 'Confronting Old Testament Controversies' which analyzes different theological opinions concerning evolution, the historicity of the Exodus, divine violence, and homosexuality. I hope this is helpful!

You're becoming my favourite Christian YouTube channel second only after the Bible Project! Keep up the good work!! I was actually thinking of doing something similar on YouTube but couldn't get around to it. But now that I found you, maybe I should motivate myself to actually go for it :D

You can be sure from a theological and historical perspective that I slapped the like button real fast

One of the bits I found funny in Chapter 3 was how many times Longman made a point to mention he read all 1, 500+ pages of Boyd’s “Crucifixion of the Warrior God” book.

Wow, this book sounds great! Read a lot of Longman for a few papers at Moody, really appreciate his views on the OT.

EDIT:
Maybe great in the way of content and data, but not so much for readability. A consistent thorn in the realm of biblical scholars lol

Have you read the scandal of the evangelical mind?

How do people who dismiss God's violence because of the example of Jesus deal with parables such as the parable of the bad tenants?

The doctrine of inerrancy is a hindrance to the development of Theology as Evolution theory is to science. Theologians and scientists get stuck without means of progress because of these two old dogmas.
When one looks into the OT and into a human cell, inerrancy and evolution are...
a insurmountable barrier,
a bar too high,
a bridge too far.
