Covid: Austria lockdown begins as protests hit European cities

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has condemned the violent clashes across the country over lockdown restrictions, describing the rioters as "idiots".

Protests have broken out across the continent, amid efforts to control the worrying surge in Covid cases, including in Belgium and in Austria - where a nationwide 20-day lockdown began today.

While Germany's health minister warned that by the end of the year everyone would either be vaccinated, recovered or dead.

The vaccination rates in Netherlands and Belgium is higher than the UK. This 80% is not for the total population but 80% of a particular age group, A little misleading there.

This a serious question? Because people are fighting for the freedoms being taken away by corrupt governments, not difficult really.

We need to ask if the number of cycles for the Covid tests has been moved back up to 40 cycles from the 20 cycles it was reduced in Jan/ Feb 2021. That would explain a lot of the uplift in cases.

Because freedom and mandatory are two opposing ideas. If the Dutch PM says protests are "violence by idiots" then how should we describe the authoritarian action by the police? Keep in mind Sweden never went into lockdown.
