I could just feel Splinter's pain just hearing of his back story. Makes me wonder how much he loved his master if he's willing to fight the Shredder, aka his master's killer.

I always thought it was a great decision for Splinter to reveal the full story to Danny. April got the partial version. Splinter knew Danny needed to hear what he had to say.

It was implied earlier in the film. When tatsu asked shredder why the turtles bothered him so much “something about the way you described their fighting. Something familiar. Something from the past” this was the first indicator of who shredder is. He recognized the style that Yoshi used. I think before splinter told Danny this story he already came to the conclusion that shredder was saki. Splinter had seen the other foot soldiers so the red headband with the same symbol had to be a dead giveaway. He likely could pick up sakis scent being that he’s a rat, and likely remembered what his voice sounds like.

I have to admit, this is a very touching back story. I really felt for Splinter as he narrated his story to Danny. The impact is very powerful even to this day.

the way Danny reacts after Splinter tells him "...but YOU....wear his symbol upon your brow." he touches his forehead as if to say "You mean to tell me ive been working for a killer all this time?" and its evident when he drops the head band on the floor intentionally later. its like symbolically hes saying "Whatve I gotten myself into?"

No wonder Splinter and Batman bond so well in Batman vs TMNT. They both know what it's like to watch in horror as one's family is murdered.

This movie was way better than it had to be. It's got a dark, noir-ish feeling to it.

It’s interesting how Splinter’s story to April of him and the turtles’ origins was uplifting but his story to Danny was tragic and sad

I love how Splinter told a vague truth about Saki to Danny. When he said "No one knows where he is", he meant no one knew he was secretly the shredder. And when he said "You where his mark on your brow" he gave him a subliminal hint that Saki is Shredder

Considering how pet rats are very loyal to their owners it's not too far off Splinter would want to save his master let alone avenge him.

The pitch black in the flashbacks. What an ingenious way to evoke comic book panels without going full Spider-Verse

15 years later shredder and splinter come face to face once again… Shredder removes his mask and you see The scar that splinter left. “You… Now I will finish what I began with your EAR!!!”
