I was with you when you said, "I'm kind of lazy I like to cut corners" I'm like yes, finally!!

Thanks so much for mentioning about the primer repelling at first. It's the one thing I've been curious about but haven't seen mentioned. Delighted that you confirmed I can put water based over it too. Great video!

Make sure you have good ventilation and a mask when using BIN shellac primer. Also ammonia mixed with warm water will clean your brushes and it's 1/8 the price of mineral spirits.

The article you wrote on how to paint Ikea furniture was so helpful. I recommend everyone to check it out.

If you are in business the price is important. Please don’t be influenced by rude people - so done with these self centered attitudes. Thank you for sharing; it’s very informative.

You’ve been painting for 20 years, yet you look 21 😮

Laminate can also be made out of paper layers pressed together and that definitely needs to be very well sealed with the primer so no moisture can penetrate it so it doesn't swell or peel off.

Sanding is always recommend especial on laminate. By doing that you create a “profile” for the paint to stick on. That will most probably avoid the need for a second layer of primer. Thx for the video. I think the bottom line is to get your proposed primer which is pricy but seems to be the best solution.

Key item: if you get your paint & have the paint mixer shake it. If the paint has sat, always use paint stir sticks or a drill powered paint mixer. Need to get the heavier parts mixed in with the other part.

Did not know Zinser had a shellac based primer. Game changer, thanks for sharing!😊😊😊

I loved seeing the price tag - that's the first place I stop at Ikea - the scratch and dent area! Thanks for this great video! No sanding! YAY!

Short, simple, and to the point!! Thanks! I am so excited that I don’t have to sand. I have a kitchen and two bathroom cabinets. I imagine if you paint the cabinets in the kitchen the bathrooms should match too yes? Thanks so much for the help!!!

Great tutorial. I never knew we could paint on laminate furniture.

It'll be great to see a follow up review to find out if the paint is still good.

This is exactly what I was looking for! You explained this so well and I loved the tip about the primer as I would have thought I did something wrong when I start. You just gained a new subscriber. 🥰

If the paint is repelled you should spread it, wait ten minutes and then try again, the paint will become slightly thicker and more 'paste' like and will smear better (You can just keep rolling away but this gives you time for a cup of tea)

When using a roller don't make the mistake I did - It turns out rollers have different textures. I used the same big one for the walls and it left everything a bit bobbbly, try and find a smoothish roller if possible. I had to go over everything with a big brush to make it actually flat.

I'm going to paint several laminate shelves. Various sizes.
It would be great to skip the sanding step!
Thanks a bunch...

Thank you for mentioning that the primer appears to repel in the first coat!! No one mentions that 😭 I thought it wasn't working and I gave up. I'll make another attempt on my bookshelf now 💕
