About Buried:
BURIED follows the gripping story of Eileen Franklin who, while playing with her young daughter, suddenly had a memory of witnessing the rape and murder of her childhood best friend, 8-year-old Susan Nason, which led to a re-opening of a case that had gone unsolved for nearly 20 years. And in a shocking twist, when Eileen came forward with her memory, she told the police that she remembered the murderer was her own father, George Franklin. The four-part docu-series reveals the consequences of that fateful assertion of the subconscious and the infinite questions it sparked about the accuracy and reliability of unearthing traumatic events in the court of law. Through riveting first-person testimonials of family, neighbors, memory experts, law enforcement, mental health professionals and many others, BURIED explores the impact of Eileen’s memory on not only the Franklin family but also the legal and mental health communities writ large.

I was riding bikes with 3 of my friends when I was 10 and one of my friends got hit by a car and killed. I remember the funeral, but I had no memory of the accident at all for 17 years. None. So yeah I believe in repressed memories

Yeah, when your a kid, your mind protects you, when something horrible happens, I totally believe that.

The DA and prosecutors in this were a joke. As soon as I heard the prosecutor say that choosing not to answer a direct accusation was an admission of guilt I knew this was going to be a dodgy courtroom. I was not even remotely surprised when that turned out to be one of the reasons the conviction was overturned.

This is a master class in misogyny. Talk about blaming the victim and protecting the predator. People have not experienced trauma cannot understand the memories work, even the scientists.

It’s all about the fact’s. If her memory story has facts in it . Then it’s a good start to prove her point.

If you really think she made it all up please research repressed memories from an unbiased source. It’s a real and studied phenomenon that happens from repeated abuse in childhood. And even if her father didn’t kill a child, he’s still done so much that worth being convicted for. This whole story was so tragic :(

I had a repressed memory that came back about 12 years later, so I believe Eileen. Surprisingly my brother who was there still has repressed it.

Who you gonna believe? Me or your lyin’ eyes.

I’ll never underestimate the human mind. So I won’t say memories of severe trauma can’t be repressed. However, I know way too many people that have suffered severe trauma and in my experience, they have two things in common.
First, is trying to forget what happened and move on, myself included; from day one.
Second, truth doesn’t change, when it is recalled, to fit the facts. The truth is.

Mom recanting and showing the pictures of Eileen at that age when she was supposedly pulling her hair out. All the pictures, actually. Lots of inconsistencies and flat out lies. The DA and prosecutor said she had no motive. The money from the book deals and movie were going to charity. Oh, oops, I repressed the memory where she said her husband is going to keep it. That’s a lot of motive, IMO
The one good thing that came out of this thing is the nationwide change in statute laws for real victims of abuse.I lived a horrific childhood of abuse and my siblings and I remember it all too well. The one thing that really rang true is what mom said about how things were in 1969. You never told why you had a black eye and some missing teeth because you’re old man stomped the shit out of you. Because no one ever really asked, to be honest; especially in the hood.
You just remember how absolutely helpless it feels to fight a grown man and the only thing you can use is your tears. No tears. He won’t get them. That’s a truth
Lastly, every time I hear how victims of child abuse usually abuse their children. My old man never sexually assaulted me, just stomped the living shit out of all of us. But the last thing I would ever think of doing to my child or any child for that matter is to hurt them. To make them feel the pain and that infinite helplessness. I mean I just can’t get my head around how anyone physically hurts someone they’re supposed to love.
Damn, this got long

It’s all coming back to me now… I remember as a child Dr Bruce Banner was my babysitter and decided to bring me to his laboratory to retrieve top secret documents, when suddenly during an explosion he was exposed to gamma rays and the next thing I recall… a green giant appeared and forced me to eat canned vegetables against my will!! Am I a victim yet? Anyone interested in co-writing my tell all memoir?

Spoiler:

Good lord! How could anyone believe her??! She kept smiling the second she got on the stand. That dead eyed, repeat blinking every time she had to explain her "inconsistencies", like come on.

There were thousands of cases in the 90s after this, and many men were convicted for unspeakable crimes. Only to be released years later when DNA evidence proved their innocence and gave them their freedom.
