Temperatures in some areas of Spain are expected to hit or remain around 43 degrees celsius this week, as a sweltering heatwave continues to hang over the country.
The soaring temperatures have caused the authorities to put many areas of the country on alert due to the risk of wildfires.

In Australia, when the tempreture is over, let's say, 33-36 degrees celsius, the construction workers can go home directly from sites and they also get paid for the rest of time when they're supposed to work outside, that's amazing and surprising!

Just imagine how hot those fire fighters still battling the pujerra and benahavis wildfire are feeling.

What about air humidity? This is hardly ever mentioned in these hot weather reports. It makes a huge difference to how the human body experiences heat.

Something that no-one ever seems to mention is that these temperatures refer to the temperature in the shade. I've lived in Madrid for 25years and have tested the difference between the temperatures in the sun and the shade. The temperature in the sun is between 10 and 15 degrees higher depending on the time of year. It might be a good idea for the BBC to inform the British public of this difference to encourage British holidaymakers in Spain to stay out of the sun. 35°c isn't dangerous. 50°c is. Last week it reached 45°c where I live. That's pushing 60°c in the sun....

I'm living in Zaragoza and we hit 45°C+ Friday. It's was unbearable and we have no air-conditioning as very expensive to run. That heat and no breeze my sweat was sweating...

In Arizona, you can literally cook an egg on the sidewalk. And dogs have to wear pet shoes when walking on the sidewalk, so their feet don't burn.

Personally... I hate the summer. I much prefer the rain and the snow rather than the heat. Its easier to get warm when it's cold, than it is to get cold when it's hot. People are battling with Insomnia is far worse in the summer months, ultimately leading to more fits/seizures due to the lack of sleep.

I really request the Fashion desigers or textile industry come with some cooling vests for the construction workers and people who work outside completely. As they are the main people who suffer severe sunstrokes ☀️

I experienced 43 C in Spain and -30 in Poland. I genuinely prefer -30.

As an Aussie that is bloody hot. The fact people are taking there dogs out in that is crazy. You can literally cook an egg on the road/concrete when the temperature gets to that as it holds the heat. So bad for dogs paws and dehydration.

The world is upside down, here in Brazil, since mid-May, we are suffering from very low temperatures 🥶🥶 and we are not used to having a heater at home.

I'm from Madrid and this not normal even for this city and it is not July or August yet...In the 80's and 90's summers weren't that hot nor that long...It started getting worse in 2000's.
At least it is dry hot so 40 degrees in Madrid could be the equivalent to 31-33 degrees in London.

Unbelievable it's still allowed to run horses in front of carriages in this heat. Pure animal abuse!

Big problem for Spain is the lack of air conditioning. Electricity is very expensive
