We actually get a first for something in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the climax of the show’s fourth episode, John Walker, the new Captain America, chases down and kills a Flag Smasher with the Captain America shield after the accidental death of his right-hand man, Lemar Hoskins. This marks the first time in the MCU that Captain America’s shield is shown to have blood on it. This symbolizes how John Walker is unsuitable to hold the title of Captain America.

One of captain americas first scenes in the suit with the shield he’s seen shooting people, Steve rogers has killed people before it’s nothing new we’ve just never seen blood on the shield which is new. It’s kind of hard to miss since there’s a whole ending shot of John walker standing there with the bloody shield.
