On March 4, 2024 Europe Union imposed a 2 billion dollar fine on Apple for antitrust violations.

What's the point of having antitrust laws if it can take 7-10 years from the start of the investigation until a verdict is reached? They carry on with business as usual in the meantime.

Apple’s statement was a bunch of word salad.

About time. Apple will be broken up and will be ordered to learn its place in the world as nothing more than a computer maker shackled to the mantra of "What would Steve do?"

why not sue NVDA... they are a real monopoly, charging $50k for a chip with 80% profit margin.. wtf.

This is stupid, how about working at reducing the price jump on the housing market if we care so much about monopolization

This is all bull.
Why don't they do this for healthcare insurance.
We all know why.

So their argument is that they will not be able to create a cohesive environment, ("...where hardware, software, and services intersect"), because they will be forced to stop blocking support on hardware, software, and services.

That makes absolutely no sense.

To all people who say "There is no monopoly because you can go and buy Android phone", you dont get the point of this.
Assume if Honda cars accepted gas manufactured by only Honda sold only in Honda authorised gas stations, only Honda buyer can sit in the car and not anyone else.
The car runs only on their own roads made for them.
You would say I can buy a Toyota as well, but thats not the point of it.

I buy Apple products for the exact reason that it is more secure and locked in and don't want this. If there is a security problem with an app and iPhones get hacked - it is not the app that will be in the headlines, it will be 'the iPhone has a security issue'.

What about Hawaii…. Shouldn’t they be going for them as they have done worse than what Apple have.

Haha. I have an iMac that's 10 yrs old that still works, and I had 3 PCs that have all died in that time, costing more than the iMac. I'd like to see the DOJ being countersued for wasting taxpayers money

I am sad that America was not the first to acknowledge apples monopolistic, anti-competitive illegal app store policies. This should have been done years ago.
