West Hills: Firefighters Defend Homes From Woolsey Fire Flares-Ups

11.11.2018 | 9:00 AM | LOS ANGELES - Firefighters were protecting homes as the Woolsey Fire sent flare-ups more homes, Sunday afternoon.
The Los Angeles Fire Department, along with numerous assisting agencies, convened upon the West Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles around noon.
Firefighters were assigned to protect structures in the area of Strathern Street and Crothers Court from flare-ups as winds sent embers flying. Several homeowners also stayed behind to try and defend their homes.
In only several days the Woolsey Fire has destroyed numerous communities and historic sites within the Ventura and Los Angeles counties. The fire is reported to have spread to more than 80,000 acres, destroying at least 177 structures.
Thus far, the fire is 10 percent contained as firefighters continue to gain a hold on the fire.
