If you’re close enough to see any of those things, it’s too late 😂

Most venomous snakes also have “warnings” like cotton mouths will open their mouth to show the white or rattle snakes will rattle their tail.

Better to assume every snake is venomous and stay away

Makes sense. The only thing is that you have to be hella close to the snake to spot these differences, and by that time it might be too late 😂😂😂

most snakes aren't venomous. most snakes you come across probably are. if you find a snake, don't try to kill it, over 80% of fatal bites occur due to people trying to kill them, which scares them into going on the offensive and releasing much more venom. on top of this, venomous snakes are very good for the ecosystem and are kept in check by cats and hawks. if you find a snake in your yard, and you absolutely cannot just leave it alone and wait for it to go away, call Game & Wildlife or whatever the equivalent is in your country. they will take the snake elsewhere.

do not watch a few videos on handling snakes and try to do it yourself. even professionals slip up a lot and have no way to safety protect themselves against snakes, but they have years of experience with the behavioral signs of the species they work with and that is the only thing that keeps them safe.

if you get bit by a snake and you don't know what kind it is for certain, do not bring it with you (a man has died from trying to hold the snake on his way to the hospital as it thrashed it's way out of his control and struck him repeatedly until he died) and do not try to kill it then bring any part of it with you.

simply call ahead to the hospital so they can get antivenom airdropped to the location (most don't keep it on hand) and on that call detail what the snake looked like regarding color and pattern, even if multiple venomous snakes in your area look similar they will just grab all the antivenom and load you up. the antivenom might be expired, but it's still good and loading you up as they will, will do the job.

MOST IMPORTANT ADVICE OF ALL THIS: DON'T APPROACH SNAKES. DON'T TRY TO KILL SNAKES. IF YOU SEE A SNAKE, IT DOESN'T WANT YOU. CALMLY AND SLOWLY BACK AWAY.

as a child I unknowingly walked within 2 feet of a diamond back rattle snake. it began to rattle, and so I froze, and then my instincts had me very calmly and slowly back away, and then I ran. last year, at the end of twilight coming back inside my dog bopped an adult mama cottonmouth on the head. the snake perked up, saw it was a dog and a human, said "nope" and scurried away. I commanded my dog to stay totally still for just a second and then slowly come to me (he would've tried to play).

STAY AWAY FROM SNAKES.
SNAKES DON'T WANT YOU.
DON'T MOVE SNAKES.
DON'T KILL SNAKES.

this isn't even a good snakes 101 short because there's so much nuance that these statements are only partially true. please do more research and re-make it.
