This feature relies on having the Windows Fax Printer Driver or Fax Services installed on the computer to send the faxes. If the Windows Fax feature is not enabled for your version of Windows, you can enable it.

Windows Fax and Scan is a built-in Windows component that enables you to send and receive faxes via a fax modem or a dedicated fax server in your office. The program is usually easy to find, but if you’re having trouble, the component might be turned off in Windows, or a system file may be corrupted.

for anyone that cannot find the Optional features in the Apps tab, you need to look for it in the System tab. It is near the bottom. besides that the rest of the video will work. thanks for the tutorial

Did not work for me. Got to the optional features and could go no further. Windows fax and scan would not come up.

It's now under System > Optional Features rather than under Apps

hi thank you for the video i have some troubles with WFS these days, i followed your steps but i couldn't install the WFS(windows fax and scan ), i always failed to do that , what should i do now ?

You may want to consider an update to the video. I just upgraded from win10 to win11 (June 2024). Windows Fax and Scan is now under System then Optional Features. You may want to also state that (a) you need a phone line, and (b) you need a fax service, in order to use WF&S. It turns out that WF&S was already installed with Win11, so I did not have to install it.

Once I click on Windows Fax and Scan it does give me the option to click next however Instead of Install it gives me the option of ADD. I click on Add and it displays could not add. Please advise, thank you.
