Medvedev's year so far has been an interesting one, with his loss at the Olympics and a title drought stretching over a year. In this deep dive, I analyze the Russian's unique playing style, recent struggles, and potential for future success. From his unorthodox techniques to his mental game, we'll explore what makes Medvedev such a formidable opponent despite his recent setbacks. Can Medvedev regain his top form during the upcoming hardcourt season? And how do you think his unconventional style will fare against the rising stars like Alcaraz and Sinner in the coming years?

Medvedev is such a fun player to watch. Doesn’t have the same ceiling as players like the big three, Alcaraz, or Sinner but he has the tools to beat anyone on tour. Hope he wins another slam or two before he retires

Medvedev is essential for tennis. He can beat Nole, Alcaraz and Sinner and disrupt their paths to victory. Without him tennis would get so boring, because only Sinner and Alcaraz would win the titles.
(Sorry to the Sasha fans, but I'm disappointed.)

13:14 I disagree, he does not give _one of the best interviews from any tennis player_ , he is the GOAT in this department, and I don't think this is just for tennis. People say that Roddick was also great, but most of the time they just have in memory the famous press conference he did AO 2007 after being dismantled by Federer 6-4 6-0 6-2 despite coming into the tournament saying that the gap between him and Federer was closing. Medvedev has a dozen of great conferences, and he isn't just funny or sarcastic or entertaining. He gives great insights, he goes into tactical aspects of the game, talks about his feelings in a very intelligent manner. I obviously don't know all athletes from all sports, but I think it is unlikely that anyone has been anywhere near his level.

I think Danil’s intellect is his greatest asset, and agree that he will enjoy a career longevity in the top ten that will continue to set him apart. He certainly is the odd duck on tour, but I’m always here for it. I love how unorthodox his style is (goes to show there’s more than one that’s viable!), how tactically astute he is throughout the entire course of tough matches, and how humble and honest his personality is. One of the most charismatic players on the tour, for mine; Danil is authentic, a strange prototype never intended for mass production! Tennis needs guys like Meddie for all those awkward, tall skinny guys coming up to look to!

Medvedev is surely gonna win another slam. If there's one player other than Djoker that can take on Sinner and Alcaraz head to head in best of 5 it's him.
Also coming to grand slam final loses, I don't think anyone can do anything when Nadal and Novak start playing their games. And the last loss to Sinner if it weren't for his back to back 5 setters in qf and sf things could have been very different for him. It was quite evident in that final that he was tired out.

For me the words that best describe Medvedev are resilience and tenacity. At the beginning of his career, Medvedev was certainly not the most promising of his generation. The predestined seemed to be others, like Tsitsipas or Zverev. And yet, despite an unorthodox technique and an equally "alternative" physicality, he is the one who reached number one in the ranking and the grand slam title, managing among all the so-called "next gen" to best realize his potential. This for me is one of the greatest qualities a person can have, regardless of what their job is.
As a person I would define him as quite an enigma that embodies extremely different aspects of personality: cheekiness that often borders on rudeness and impulsiveness on the court, kindness and tranquility outside the court, an ability to be funny even without wanting to, all accompanied by a sharp intelligence
I don't know if it's understood that I really like him 😂
I think he is a gift for tennis and I wish him the best for his future career.

We all have to feel sorry for Ruud, Tsitsipas, Danioil and Zverevo because they have been struggling with the big three for years and now they have to face Alcaraz and Sinner.

Meddy is the reason I watch tennis. My favorite player and person. I can continue forever, but that statement says everything.

Fun fact is he reached 4 grandslam semifinals including 2 finals out of last 5 grand finals. I think it is just like Murray not able to beat the big 3 . But a very underrated player

I started to watch tennis more and more because of Daniil. He is so different to other players on court and off the court so it’s really hard to not like him

One of the reasons he has not won more tournaments is the amount of abuse he has had to take from people at the stands. That is why he didnt win AO 22 and almost didnt win USO 21, where he showed he could beat Djokovic+the world at the massive Arthur Ashe stadium. If there was an episode "It's time we talk about players abused by people at the stands and the media" his name would certainly pop up.

From the indifference in the beginning, he's grown to be one of my favourite players. At 28 he's still improving and I would be surprised if he doesn't win at least one more GS title. He's such original and intelligent player. You are right that technically he's far from perfect but he's fun to watch, and many find great appeal in his unorthodox forehand strokes and movement. It's pity that he didn't win this year's Australian Open because he played really well.
I also like his wit and honesty in his interviews.
The only thing I dislike is his extreme rudeness even those occur rarely. I can't believe that he said all those nasty things to Eva, as she is one of the best and most honest and fair arbiters in the sport.
